How to calibrate digital kitchen scale

To calibrate your digital kitchen scale, follow these general steps, keeping in mind that specific models may have different procedures. Always refer to your product manual for the most accurate instructions.

  • Prepare a Calibration Weight:

Ensure you have a calibration weight with a known and accurate mass. Ideally, this should be a fraction of the scale's maximum capacity, but consult your manual for the recommended weight.

  • Place the Scale on a Stable Surface:

Set the digital kitchen scale on a flat, level surface to ensure accurate calibration.

  • Turn On the Scale and Enter Calibration Mode:

Power on the scale. For some models, you may need to press and hold a specific button (like "CAL" or "MODE") to enter calibration mode. The screen may display "CAL" or a similar indicator.

  • Place the Calibration Weight:

Gently place the calibration weight on the scale's platform, ensuring it's stable and centered.

  • Allow Calibration to Complete:

The scale will automatically recognize the weight and initiate the calibration process. This may take a few seconds to a minute. During this time, the display may show various numbers or symbols until it settles on the exact weight of the calibration weight.

  • Verify the Calibration Result:

Once the calibration is complete, check if the displayed weight matches the actual weight of the calibration weight. If they match, the calibration is successful. If not, repeat the steps or consult your manual for alternative calibration methods.

  • Remove the Calibration Weight and Test:

After confirming the calibration, remove the weight and test the scale with other items of known weight to ensure accuracy.
Remember, it's crucial to keep the scale's battery fully charged during calibration to avoid any inaccuracies. If you encounter any issues during the process, refer to your product manual or contact the manufacturer's customer support for assistance. Regular calibration helps maintain the scale's accuracy and prolongs its lifespan.
